Impossible Foods Just Lowered the Price of These Popular Grocery Items
Impossible Foods announced it's cutting the prices of products it sells to foodservice distributors by about 15%. This makes it cheaper for those companies to sell things like Impossible Burger patties, 5-pound Burger bulk packages, and Impossible Sausage Made From Plants patties to you at your local grocery store. It's the second time the company has lowered prices recently. (Need some cooking inspo? Here are the 100 Easiest Recipes You Can Make.)
"Our stated goal since Impossible Foods' founding has always been to drive down prices through economies of scale, reach price parity and then undercut the price of conventional ground beef from cows," the company's founder and CEO, Dr. Patrick O. Brown, said in a statement. "Less than a year ago, we cut foodservice prices by 15%. Today's price cut is just the latest—not the last—step toward making the food system sustainable. Stay tuned."
News of the price cuts comes as sales of sliced meat products are on the rise and have been since October of 2020, as people continue to work from home. While pre-cut turkey, ham, bologna, and more are convenient to have on hand, these processed meats are typically filled with unhealthy amounts of sodium and fat.
